Alabama State Rep. Pleads Not Guilty to Fraud Charges

State Rep. Ed Henry pleaded not guilty in federal court in Montgomery this week to charges involving Medicare fraud.

Henry has denied wrongdoing after he was indicted in May. Wednesday’s court appearance was the result of a second indictment issued in the case in July.

The 18-count indictment accuses Henry, R-Hartselle of conspiring to defraud Medicare, violating an anti-kickback law, health care fraud and conspiring to launder money. He did not seek re-election to the House. A portion of his district covered northern Cullman County.
