Former Bahamas minister charged with extortion and bribery

Kenred Dorsett, a former environmental minister for the Bahamas, has been charged with extortion and accepting bribes totaling $120,000.

The allegations center around money that was allegedly exchanged in connection with work done by a heavy equipment operator to move debris following a massive fire at a landfill in March. He was charged with four counts of extortion, four counts of bribery and one count of misconduct in public office.

Dorsett pleaded not guilty to all charges.
